When you have a 50-run win in a T20 match, you know that the winning team is now settling down comfortably and finding their feet. Predictably enough, Mumbai Indians climb to the top of the table with their batting and bowling departments looking very well set.
ASHOK’s FIVE reviews Match 13 – MI vs KXIP in the ongoing IPL 2020. Mumbai batted first scoring a solid 191 for 4 in 20 overs while KXIP came apart closing at 143 for 8.
The Mumbai top order delivered again with Pollard, Rohit, Ishan and Hardik Pandya all contributing well. In response, only Pooran could make it beyond 40 with some aggressive shot-making but in the final analysis wasn’t good enough. Mumbai also fired on the bowing front – Bumrah, Rahul Chahar and Pattinson all looking good now.
Death bowling is becoming an issue for most teams in this edition of the IPL. K Gowtham who had returned figures of 1 for 20 in his first three overs gave away 25 overs in his fourth over and the last over of the MI innings. It was a bold call to give him the last over, but Pandya took a liking to him.
Continuing on the trail of young guns blazing for India, I think Rahul Chahar is looking very confident and making progression. He is accurate, not afraid to challenge the batsmen and very competitive.
KXIP losing their way especially after that blitzkrieg by Mayank and Rahul earlier is baffling; their top order has been inconsistent and should be a source of worry. Meanwhile, the bigger issue facing KL and coach Kumble is their death over bowling – Chris Jordan, Cottrell and now K Gowtham have all gone for huge last overs in the last three matches.
I must say that the Dream XI commercials are looking good, especially the one where a smart, confident girl asks Boom-Boom to “konak at le” for bowing too fast. The advertisements featuring Hardik and Rohit are equally good, and I think the credit goes to excellent casting and acting. At the end of the day, #YeApnaGameHai!
