After the blistering start that the IPL 2020 saw, it was inevitable that we would run into a phase when the matches would become a tad predictable or boring. Watching the thespian #ShaneWarne preside over Rajasthan Royals giving in meekly to KKR was a sobering experience.
ASHOK’s FIVE is feeling bored watching Steve Smith and his men give up so easily. On a different note though, it was good to see Shah Rukh in the stadium and a few audience reactions too.
Over the last two years, one has been hearing the names of Mavi and Nagarkoti but not enough of their skills have been on display. The arrival of a new fast bower in India has always been heralded with a fair bit of excitement. Match No 12 finally saw them come into their own and justify the faith reposed in them by the KKR management. In particular, it was wonderful to see the athletic Nagarkoti fielding; I think that running catch at long on of Jofra Archer was fabulous!
KKR closed their innings with a slightly above par score of 174 for six. And I think it’s for the first time that one witnessed the opposition folding in at a 137 for 9, thus handing KKR a comprehensive win.
At the end of Match 12, every team has played three matches but the filed is still open and there are no clear picks as to who will make it to the playoff stage. This augurs well for the league this year.
Most teams have either found their mojo or are clear of the chinks in their armour and can now go about fixing these. Phase 3 of the league promises to be more exciting and worth looking forward to!
