“I create a physical world that looks and behaves like the show sounds” Walt Disney. You take one look at this short and the one thing that stands out is the production design. Every frame, every set, every prop is rich and the lighting adds to the story progression. Needless to say, the fantastic cast also adds to the narrative. With a whopping 17 million views, this short is a must watch.
ASHOK’s FIVE reviews #ShirishKunder’s #Kriti, an 18 minute short on #YouTube, and featuring #ManojBajpayee, #RadhikaApte and #NehaSharma. This is the story of a mentally ill man Sapan (#ManojBajpayee) who is talking to his psychologist Dr Kalpana(#RadhikaApte). He talks about the new women in his life Kriti(#NehaSharma) only to be cautioned to check whether this is for real or a figment of his imagination like his previous flame Rachana. What ensues is a true blue psychological thriller that leaves you guessing till the climax.
#ManojBajpayee is brilliant in his portrayal of Sapan. His expressions remind you of the roles in #Kaun, #Satya and many other films. He has truly evolved as an actor, especially in quirky roles such as this. #RadhikaApte and #NehaSharma also lend credible support.
#Kriti drew a log of flak with people comparing it to the Nepalese film #Bob, which has a similar storyline. However, #Kunder was quick to rebuff any allegations of plagiarism.
I also feel that the essence of any psychological thriller is that it keeps the audience guessing. On that front, #Kriti is a bit of let down because you can figure out the plot through many cues from the opening scene itself.
Nevertheless, this is worth a watch. The lighting and colour palette used for that one scene where #NehaSharma is introduced sitting next to the pool is done beautifully; surreal and visually delightful in line with the story line. At the end of the day, its all in your mind!
